Each year on the 3rd Saturday in October, the small rural community of Ceres, named for the Goddess of Grain, hosts an annual homecoming. The drive over the mountain (or through the interstate tunnel) and down the valley gives added benefit to the day. The trees are usually at their peak of fall colors. An individual, group or event is often recognized or honored during this celebration. In 2008, the 80th anniversary of Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be recognized. Also, a "Toys for Tots" drive will be conducted for new unwrapped toys. In 2009, the 1959 Ceres boy’s basketball team who competed in the State Tournament will be honored. Advance registrations are required for the delicious meal which costs $15.00 per person. If anyone does not want to participate in the dinner, they are welcome to attend the other activities.
